Pengalaman Proyek tentang Bahasa Indonesia 2

My Bahasa Indonesia 2 module officially ended today at 3.45pm with the last test of the semester. I think I did badly, but let’s hope I pass. We had our project presentation about 2 weeks ago and we had to write an essay titled “Pengalaman Proyek” (Project Experience). Here’s what I wrote (corrected by Ibu Fanny). Apologies to those who can’t understand the following…

Sebelum presentasi, kepala saya pusing sekali. Karena saya tertawa banyak selama presentasi, kepala saya tidak pusing sesudah presentasi.

Kartika pulang sesudah presentasi.

Saya sangat menikmati proyeknya.

Halloween Horrors: Where the dead fairytale characters reside

Was invited to The Return of Halloween Horrors at Night Safari last night! 😀

Invited Charmelon (aka Charlene) along coz I haven’t seen her in quite a while 🙂

The last time I went to Night Safari was 6 years ago during my first band camp (combined with SKSS). I don’t remember what happened that night except something that happened near the end of the visit. Some guys sat on a metal chain and broke it. -_-”

Anyway, after I got the invitation, I was pretty excited because this wasn’t going to be a normal Night Safari visit, but it includes The Return of Halloween Horrors. 😀

Every wondered where the dead fairytale characters go? They go to the Night Safari this month! 😀

Before we entered the Night Safari, we could hear lots of screams and laughter and wondered what was going on.

Charmelon spotted this:

This person was standing at the shadows. If Charmelon didn’t point her out to me, I wouldn’t have seen her at all. Creepy.

Oh. How did I know the seller’s a female?

😛

There was Pinocchio! And Dracula, who roared at me after I said “thank you!” I guess it was his way of saying “Your welcome!”

Me

Charmelon

Notice how they have different poses? 🙂

I’ll let the pictures do the talking 😀

(At the reception area)

Melon and Aladin.

Tin man! Melon and my favourite character for the day. He doesn’t really scares people, but follows you around in a friendly way.

This pic didn’t show it, but his heart came out of his body so he died. 🙁 Poor thing.

Cinderella had the glass slipper thrown on her head. Instant death.
My expression was supposed to be sombre -_-” I look weird.

Hunchback of Notre Dame (with Melon).

Joker? From the cards?
He scared Melon…

… I tried to scare him back.

Back for vengeance…

Head for sale…

the “black widow”? I have no idea but I think she’s pretty and resembles Angela Chang 😛

Oh and this jack-o-lantern display that they did was amazing! It’ll “stand up” and roar at people at different intervals. Love it!
I have a thing for jack-o-lanterns by the way. =/ No idea why!

Went on board the Train of Terror.

The first part was the normal tram ride that you get. It takes you through the usual tram path. However, the tram guide was speaking in a way that was supposed to scare us. She included lots of “Hahahahaha” in there (think: evil laughter) but it just got annoying at some point and we all were like “wah lau!!” >.< Oh and the dead will jump on your tram and grab you so be careful! 😛 My fellow tram passengers were pretty fun to be with by the way. 🙂 Read on to find out why.

Beast! Did Beauty kill him?

I think someone wanted her number? Then she screamed and followed the tram and he said “Ok ok sorry sorry!”

Didn’t manage to take all of the “dead”. They came pretty fast! One wolf-man even jumped in front of me, and someone behind shouted, “Relax, relax!”

After the tram ride, we decided to go on the…

What’s that??

Mangled body eh?

Jack-O-Lantern! 😀

It’s looking at you!

It had no legs.

I didn’t realise there was someone there at first.
Then…

“I WANT YOUR CAMERA!!!”

haha kidding. He didn’t say that. He just roared at me so I roared back.

Poor guy who died of thirst while outfield. He’s fused with the bushes already. I offered him water and he stretched out his arm for it. Then I told him it was from my water bottle he gave a sian look and went back to his place. 🙁

Charmelon almost ran away when he jumped out of the bushes about 1 second after I told her there was someone there. 😛 Melon’s so cute la! 🙂

Arms for sale…

Chinese vampire! He glows by the way. Look at my shirt glow too!

The last stage… If nothing jumps out at you over here…

Yay!

Of course, your ticket entitles you to walk around the Night Safari which Melon and I did. Saw lots of animals other than those on the tram.

Like these mousedeers. 😀

See, we were scared till we’re sweating like that!

Had a great time!

Adult ticket (with Train of Terror ride): $35
Child ticket (with Train of Terror ride): $18
Adult ticket (admission only): $22
Child ticket (admission only): $11

Thanks to Omy.sg and Night Safari!

Review: LG GD900 Crystal

For friends who have added me on FB/Twitter/Plurk, you’ll know that finally, after 3 months of waiting for the LG GD900 Crystal (I’ll call it Crystal from now on), I received Crystal on August 26, 5.58pm 😀

I’d won Crystal from participating in a Sparklette.net contest 🙂 I’m super happy as I’ve been reading Sparklette.net since 2003.

Anyway, CRYSTAL!

🙂

The LG Arena Bag that Crystal arrived in through a courier.

Btw, I must really thank Deborah from the marketing company who is in charge of contacting the winners about the phone. I must have sent tons of SMSes and emails to her asking about the delivery of the phone and each time, she patiently answered my questions. (I’m too excited lah!)

After all, LG GD900 Crystal is the world’s first transparent phone. 🙂

Read about the specs here: LG Website.

The accessories that comes with the phone are what you usually see in most handphones: a charger, a starter kit (for your phone to connect with your PC), battery, USB Cable (for connecting to PC). But oh! This comes with a pouch just the right size for your phone itself!

Maestoso-amore.com LG GD900 Crystal Review

Crystal’s screen has a 3-way orientation. Turning it left or right will allow me to use the menu no matter what.

Turning it left and turning it right

Of course, the first thing that mesmerized me was the transparent keypad. I’m still awed by how it’s transparent!

Maestoso-amore.com LG GD900 Crystal Review
Pretty!

As I’m a first time user of a touch screen phone, it was difficult for me to adapt to Crystal. Even though I’ve been using it for more than a week now, I still kept pressing on the wrong numbers and words when I’m using the phone.

But for those who are worried if the phone will lag, fret not as it doesn’t lag most of the time. 🙂

Though, to be honest, I don’t use the keypad much except when I take pictures (I have to slide the keypad out otherwise I won’t be able to use the camera).

The S-Class interface is pretty fun and functional to use.
But at first, I wondered why it lacked various functions, like forwarding of SMSes, but I eventually found out that it was because I had to scroll to get to the functions. Silly me.

There’s a bug though in the SMS feature, where I won’t know who I’m replying to in my sms until I’ve sent it. 🙁 Hope the developers fix it! But since this software is used in the newer LG phones, I guess other phones like LG Arena will also have this problem.

Speaking of which, the camera hasn’t disappointed me so far. 8MP (more MP than my compact camera!), and I think the computer for the camera’s pretty smart. The auto settings just adjusts the contrast and all most of the time. Outdoor shots are the best, but indoor shots can be noisy.

Here are some sample of the shots (click for bigger image. Not original size though):

Here are the list of things that I like about Crystal:

  • Comes with games that are motion activated – just like the Nintendo DS.
  • It has a browser that allows me to view many file format types – pdfs especially! Gosh, you know how difficult it is when you are unable to view an important pdf document on your mobile device. Crystal can!
  • My Crystal comes with Google Apps including one for YouTube that basically allows you to stream YouTube videos on your phone. The screen automatically turns to the landscape orientation for easy viewing.

Here’s a picture of Crystal playing a Youtube video (although it’s not clear coz of my camera):
    Maestoso-amore.com LG GD900 Crystal Review
Know what the video is? 😛

  • Crystal has an internal 1.5GB memory and up to 32GB external memory that you can add with a micro SD card
  • QWERTY Keyboard for SMS! Just turn the screen horizontal!
  • External speakers are not too bad.

My verdict: With many features packed in to it, it’s worth the money, though it would be great if LG can come up with the updates for the S-Class software (for ALL LG phones and NOT the Crystal only) 🙂 You can just carry a Crystal to replace your radio, mp3 player, camera, etc.

Best of all, it’s not bulky!

Oh and I love the reactions of my friends when they see the transparent keypad. Sorry, I don’t mean to show off and all. =x

Updated: My sis said that my pictures don’t really show how transparent the keypad is, so here’s one (with a rare picture of me wearing spectacles)! Look at the transparency of the keypad. You can see my hand behind it!

Fire at NUS Canteen today

Attempts to take a picture of the stall. Look at the smoke.

There was a fire at Biz Canteen (The Terrace) during lunch today.

But can you believe it? All the smoke and the hints of fire in the Arab stall and there were still people queuing for the Arab food?

And they say NUS people are smart =x

The fire wasn’t too big, so they sort of put it out real quickly and the Arab stall was closed for the day.

*Note: I wasn’t the only one commenting about their stupidity. You should hear people wondering out loud why those people were still queuing in front of the stall.

The Actionscript Conference – Singapore 14th, 15th September 2009

Have you heard about The Actionscript Conference?

Actually until today, I haven’t heard about it as well.
Was looking at my NUS emails when I noticed an invitation to The Actionscript Conference 2009.

If you know me, I have always attempted to learn Flash and Actionscript but to no avail. Anything that relates to Flash or Actionscript will just get me excited.

Anyway, I decided to click on the website (tac.sg) and after looking at the “About” page, I signed up immediately. Lol.

Why? Look at the list of topics that they’re going to cover (not limited to):

  • Advanced Flash Player capabilities
  • Flash Catalyst
  • Adobe Collaboration Services
  • Programming Actionscript 3.0
  • Adobe AIR
  • Flex 3 and Flex 4 Framework
  • Creating Mashup with Flash, Flex
  • Development Methodology
  • Development Tips and Tricks – Empower and Speed up your Flash development!
  • Rich Internet Applications
  • Flash Javascript Integration
  • Flash Videos
  • Blaze DS
  • Integration of Flash, Flex with server-side technologies
  • Component Designs

All these will definitely be useful for my web development career and not to mention, they’re of my interest! I hope that whatever I learn will be useful for my holiday job. haha. 🙂

And currently they have a discount for the first 100 students who sign up for the conference! I think it’s down to 50 people left. If you’re interested in Flash, Flex , Web design and development, this is the conference for you.

PS: If you twit or blog about it, you’ll also get the chance to win a conference pass! 😀

Vernon Lek’s Birthday Weekend

Had a weekend filled with activities!

Friday
Played Warcraft 3 with Huzz. Let’s just say that too easy isn’t fun. But too difficult isn’t fun either you know?

Saturday
Met Huzz in the morning to watch Transformers 2. Megan Fox isn’t that hot guys… Please stop swooning over her body! At most, she looks like a thinner version of Angelina Jolie but that’s all!

Then went over to Telok Blangah Soka Centre (TBSC) for NUSSD Institution meeting. It’s my first time attending one! Met Qiuyi on the bus and we were both late together. Haha. Learnt about dialogue and also about some dialogues that Ikeda Sensei made with a few leaders overseas. Made a new friend Kimberly (LAW). She said she’d seen me around somewhere but I don’t really know where anyway. =x

After that, rushed down Bugis to meet Huzz and we went to Eunos to meet up with Teck Hwee, Yi Long and Hwa Swee and we went to ECP to Vernon‘s chalet party. Walked a rather long distance and saw NDP planes and helicopters and the SG flag! There was an NDP rehearsal. Hm, in that case, I should be able to see the flag from my home too huh?

When we finally reached, we saw many people whom we don’t know and also Jasmine Teh and Chin Leng. Ate the buffet stuff (love the fried rice!) and then we basically just stood around and talked to each other and all that. Jia Hui came after that and we proceeded to sign the birthday card that she’d bought and drew in it! 🙂 Jia Hui should design birthday cards!! It looks almost like she’d printed on the card instead of drawing in it! So pretty la! I also want! Haha.

Vernon was very busy coz he has so many friends. But he still took the time to pause and talk to everyone of us and thanked us for coming.

A few of us sat down and played Uno and then Munchkins that Vernon brought along. I basically lost my voice because it was too noisy to talk in my normal voice. hahaha. But the music was great. 🙂

We cut the cake around 10.15pm, and the cake was HUGE! But the chocolate was super rich! 🙂

Anyway, enough about the talking, below are the pictures (I didn’t take them btw, pictures courtesy of Vernon Lek though I’d photoshopped them of course :P).

Group pic 1: Before Jia Hui and HS left and Yan Qin came. Vernon’s the one on the extreme left (stripped wet shirt)

Huzz was figuring some card games out while I was chatting with HS and Edmund.

Sitting huddled in a circle playing Uno…

This time playing Munchkins… Noticed anyone missing?

Group pic 2: This time with Yan Qin

Cake cutting time!

I had a great time and we all left around 11pm. Took but home with Edmund, Yan Qin, Jasmine, Chin Leng and their friend (I don’t know his name but i’ve seen him around in school last time) who was pretty shocked that Huzz lives in Jurong East and he “HUH?!” so loud at the bus stop that everyone on the bus that Huzz boarded turned out and looked. LOL.

Reached home around 12plus and Dad fetched me from the bus stop otherwise I have to walk about 20mins back home.

Sunday
Went for SNCO and basically was trying hard not to fall asleep there. =x

Of Chengdu and my plate of thoughts.

Seriously emotional blog entry. Avoid if you don’t want to hear me.

Went to Pierce Sec for POP rehearsal today. Was assigned the Glocks part. Made a new friend, Hui Xian from Pierce Alumni. =)

Had lunch with Shamin and Dickson.

Had another OPP Gathering today.

Was supposed to be a picnic to celebrate all our birthdays, but the plan failed becuase we (I said “we” because we were really too busy, I understand yea?) were all too busy and all.

*Okay, I know this sounds emo*

Henry couldn’t come because today was his commissioning.
HS had a navy exercise today.
Jia Hui had something on.
Madeline went overseas.
Li Ying was not feeling well.

So there were the 7 of us left. Huzz, Edmund, Vernon, Teck Hwee, Yi Long, Yan Qin and me.

While waiting for the movie to start, saw Kai Li.

Watched Monsters vs Aliens. Haha. Love the CG!!! It’s just awesome that so many scenes are so life like. 🙂 And there were some really funny scenes that are pretty lame (in a good way). 😀 Made me happy la.

Then we went to squeeze around at the PC Show, and I saw Vernon Loh. It’s like I turned my head right and there he was. Oh and also saw Kai Li and Hui Wen.

Went to Xin Wang Taiwan Cafe and the food variety was limited, but quite okay, though the service there was seriously bad.

Firstly, Huzz ordered a side dish that was never recorded, and after the waiter recorded it down, it never arrived. )(!@)&@*

Then, this waitress who came to collect our bill behaved in a super “I don’t want to work here” attitude. I wanted to ask her what her problem was when she asked if I wanted to use my card to deduct points. Hello?! If I don’t understand can’t you explain?

I know why my photos look like crap already. It’s the settings! Believe me, the pictures above without photoshop were seriously scary. I suddenly understood why my pictures didn’t need much photoshopping all of a sudden a few weeks back. Haha.

I had “Fermented Chicken Rice”. I thought what “fermented chicken”. It’s actually fermented beancurd with chicken! It’s pretty much what I like though 🙂

After all that, we headed for home. As we were walking along City Link, I saw cousin Alvin! Haha.
Vernon, Edmund and I travelled back on the NEL and Vernon was sharing with us our thoughts about that first dinner when he reached Chengdu, and we 3 talked about the things we did there. haha. 🙂 Pretty insightful.

I miss Chengdu.

Lastly,

*turns PMS mode on*

If you think you would rather compromise friendship by being bothered because we were being honest with you, because we are not fake, because we don’t pretend like others to say how nice your ____ is, then fine with me.

Btw, I only speak my mind ONLY after I feel that you won’t be childish like this.

Too bad for me.

I’m sorry but sometimes, I don’t think I want to take shit from people anymore. People who only want attention. This is so freaking childish and secondary school. You are not a secondary school kid anymore.

And for those who know me well enough to see me posting this here, I am seriously pissed and it’s not only because of PMS, but because I seriously had enough.

Being nice always makes me feel guilty. I’ve had enough.

HS Alumni Gala Dinner 09

Lots of thoughts, views and opinions about this, but for once, I am not going to type it here.

Anyway, I played with a DSLR today!! Mdm Chua’s lah. But it’s so freaking cool and so useful in taking good shots I shall aim to get one in future.

It automatically focusses on the object that I want to take whether near or far. Took a few pictures using it, and was also one of the “official photographer” of the day (the other was Gavin). 😀

Pictures taken from my camera (will update with more pictures after I get them from Facebook):

Weird pic of me. Haha.

Me and Mrs Lau.

Sam with his bike and the other HS alumni band people (Dickson, An Chun, Shimin & Joey) =)

Jun Wen, Rong Kai and Wei Siong. RK and WS were my classmates in sec 1. Jun Wen sat next to me during Geog in sec 4 I think. If you didn’t see Chris’s face when he saw Jun Wen… You missed out on what “surprised” means. Hahahaha.

Me and Chris. Haha. I still remember the first time I knew Chris was through this ELC play. He and Belinda were good friends. I can’t remember why but Belinda asked me to add Chris on MSN so I did. His email address had the numbers “85” in them and after adding, Belinda asked me to ask Chris why he’d put “85” in his email. And Chris’s answer was… “it was a typo.”

Chris wanted to take pics with everyone so yea =)

Sam, me and Dickson.

Some interesting stuff:
– Jun Wen & Samuel winning the lucky draw prizes. Both were bikes and both tickets were bought from me 😀 Congrats to them!

– Kelvin winning an oven but he was unable to carry it off the table and down the stage due to the weight, and the guys on my table shouted, “NSF leh!!!”

– Chris singing Barbie Girl
Watch out for “No, I’m not your doll.”

Anyway, it was great to see my secondary school classmates again, namely Fang Yi, Sheueting, Vernon, Aloysius, Jun Wen, Rong Kai, Caleb and my sec 1 form teacher Mrs Lau. 🙂

Quite disappointed with a few people though… Shall not brood on that.

10 March 09: Here’s a picture that I took using the SLR. Photoshopped the colour and added a watermark though.

Jason Mraz in Singapore 2009 (5 March 09)

I have to confess, I did not buy the tickets on the first day the ticket sales opened. In fact, I’d only bought it after I returned from my Hong Kong Trip.

And I ended up buying the 2nd last $88 ticket. 😀

Not important, but anyway, I’ve been listening to Jason Mraz since 2002 when “The Remedy” first came out. In fact, I remember that I’d purposely memorised the lyrics to the rap of the song just so that I can sing it.

I was just a poor sec 2 kid then, so I didn’t buy his album (sadly).

He disappeared for a while after that, returning with Wordplay and also Geek in the Pink. In fact, I remember asking Hwa Swee once in the computer lab back in school who sang Geek in the Pink coz it was good and I hadn’t listened to the radio in a while at that point of time.

I missed his previous few performances in Singapore (Mosaic festival & SingFest) so this was a must go!

Enough about my story. Anyway, I’d reached SIS early that day, and bought a $45 tee shirt (so shoot me). Went to my seat early and started people watching and taking pictures.

Yea, I was pretty tired

One thing I don’t get is why so many people arrived after 8pm even though the concert was slated to start at 8. Grrr…

Anyway, if you want to know how a full house SIS looks like…

I didn’t take much pictures, coz it was pretty dark. I took a few videos though, and will embed them here when Facebook finish processing them.

Jason Mraz was amazing!!! It’s what I’d expected and MORE!!! He interacted with the audience, he danced, he even SANG OPERA!

Anyway, I was standing and dancing almost throughout the concert. The whole indoor stadium was doing so too! It’s a waste if you were there sitting and watching only. It was like one big party!! 😀

He also mimicked the saxophone.

Check out the video below (someone uploaded it on YouTube). I almost fainted when he sang OPERA!!!!

I just wished they’d planned up an encore. That was the only downside to the concert. I just wanted more songs!!

Songs I want to listen to him live: Love for a Child & Please Don’t Tell Her
The set list:

1. Dynamo of Volition
2. Geek in the Pink

3. (not sure)
4. You and I Both
5. Who Needs Shelter
6. Live High
7. Only Human
8. Beautiful mess
9. Make it Mine
10. I’m Yours
11. Three little Birds
12. Mr. Curiosity
13. The Remedy & Wonderwall
14. No Stopping Us
15. Butterfly

I want to go to a Jason Mraz concert again!!
