I learnt a lot during the course of this concert. As a percussionist, my main instruments are usually and most of the time the mallet and timpani instruments but this time, I get to play the drumset! Okay. it’s not the first time I play a drumset during a concert, but it’s the first time I play only the drumset.
For those who don’t know, SNCO (Soka New Century Orchestra), Koteiketai (Fife & Drum Corp) and YMD Brass Band are part of the 3 band branches in the Music & Culture (M&C) branch in Singapore Soka Association (SSA). The other groups under the M&C are the Chinese Orchestra, the Choir, some dance groups etc. There are so many that I may not even know some of it. 🙂
So anyway, we were told last year that we’ll be having a combined performance to let people know that we have such groups in SSA. This is partly to prepare for our recruitment drive coming soon.
When I first heard about the parts & pieces that we were going to play for this performance, I thought I’m in for a tough time. Coz I was the only one left in percussion at that point of time (long story), so I decided that for this performance, I am going to 1) get as many percussionists back as possible 2) improve in my drumset playing.
I have to admit, I was rather slack for the first or second practices that I attended (with regards to this performance), but afterwards, I went to look for the music and basically listened to them all the time until it got to a point of obsession. It’s like, “I can’t listen to other stuff except Love Love Love.”
So when we had one combined and I was told not to play, I basically just broke down and got terribly upset with myself.
I don’t blame anyone else for me not being able to play, I just felt that perhaps I didn’t put in enough effort or wasn’t good enough.
But then again, what I really want was (and still is) a percussion tutor to help me.
Then, I got to know the Koteiketai percussion girls and we went to Uncle Jack‘s place for just one day of help (Wei Fen also came along). That day just inspired me greatly la.
Anyway, I remembered the following week’s practice came by and it was actually a combine rehearsal (I was so doomed) and Wei Fen’s friend, Keith came. Keith’s the guest player playing the bass guitarist and I think he performs a lot outside, so he knew a lot about playing pop songs, where the cymbals must come in and all and he helped me a lot. So I learnt a lot this time from him and Uncle Jack! Thank you both! 😀
Kat also came back from Saudi and I got her and Audrey back!! Happy! Haha. Audrey also brought her friend Lynn to perform with us 🙂 Thank you both Audrey and Lynn! *note to self, send an sms to all of them
Okay, so that was the background story. Now about today.
IT RAINED!
It rained when we reached Botanic Gardens, as we were all shuffling backstage.
And the culture of Soka is that if you ever have an outdoor performance and it rains, you chant. Haha. it happens for NDP, Chingay, YCF, etc. I’ve done so for the latter 2 kinds of performances and I will never forget about stuff like this. Especially when you see proof that your prayers will be answered.
So we all chanted backstage and it just kept raining and raining until it came to a light drizzle and about 30mins before the performance was about to start, the rain stopped.
How cool is that huh? =)
The performance itself was quite alright. I screwed up a bit but after listening to the video recording of bits that my sis took, i felt it was pretty well done for me. Haha. Thanks to all who encouraged me, especially my dearest bf. 🙂 THANK YOU!
Also thanks to all who came though I don’t really know exactly who, I know some YWD from NUSSD came, my parents, my sis, Huzz, Huzz’s mum 🙂 THANK YOU ALL!
And now, for the pictures. I was the unofficial photographer of the day. The official one was Ji Sheng I believe, coz I realised he was on stage walking around only at the last piece.
Before the performance (Lynn took this)
Me, Lynn and Audrey
The koteiketai percussion girls I was talking about… Erm I only remember Carol‘s name. =x
Weili, Kat, Alice, Shini and Keith. Keith didn’t want his photos online actually but I convinced him to allow me to upload them on fb! haha.
YMD Chief Leonard giving words of encouragement.
haha. Leonard’s son. Haha. He was like dismantling stuff around him.
My sis did some video recordings of bits of our performance (heng she didn’t record my mistake) and I’ll post a link of it when she uploads it. 🙂
Day 2 (17 Jan)
I decided to boil hot water using the flask. Thankfully, the state of the hot water flask wasn’t like what I’d seen in China. I rinsed it and boiled hot water and enjoyed tea. =D I’d gotten up pretty early and noticed Summer’s sneezing so I poured a cup of hot water for her. =) She said it helped with her blocked nose. yay.
We got up and waited for boss to come down. Then we seperated for breakfast again (Faizal had to eat fast food because the rest of the stuff weren’t halal; boss and eddie accompanied him). Summer, Ainee, Valerine and I went to this small place for breakfast. I had coffee with noodles Char Siew (BBQ pork). And yeah, they give you Maggi noodles at most places.
Took the MTR again and went to this cable car station that will bring us to Ngong Ping 360. Basically, the cable car was pretty exciting coz it was wayyy high up, and all. The main point of being up there was to see a big Buddha statue.
Summer treat us to some jelly and desserts there.
My mango tofu ice dessert
Ai Nee’s Mango Pudding
Then it was a whole day of shopping again. Ai Nee and I went to KFC to rest at one point and I tried their Pop Corn Fish. Haha. It was kinda like fish fillet just that in small size.
We had dinner at a Malaysian restaurant (though run by Fillippinos I believe from their accent). The food was told to cook specially.
Then Eddie, Faizal and I went shopping and I bought a pair of sunglasses for SGD$10. 😀
Back to the hotel and watched Discovery Channel with Ai Nee and Summer till late.
I slept on the sitting room’s couch that day. 🙂 It feels like my bed.
Day 3 (18 Jan)
I woke up pretty early (7am), watched Mr Deeds on AXN (Adam Sandler leh, how not to resist?) then went back to sleep. Woke up again at 8+ and watched Discovery Channel again.
Faizal knocked on the door pretty early. Then afterwards, he and Eddie came by and I invited them in the sitting room to watch Discovery Channel with Ai Nee and I. Summer was packing.
Had Yun Tun Noodles and tried a bit of Chee Cheong Fun for breakfast. The Yun Tun is HUGE!! And I counted 6 prawns in one of them. How about that? In SG, they are so small that sometimes you don’t really eat anything except the meaat.
Oh and I had a blueberry cheese cake while waiting for the rest to return to the hotel after more shopping.
A cab fetched us back.
Did shopping at the airport after we checked in. 🙂
I was lucky to get the window seat on the plane. So got to see all the lights from the islands that we passed by and even the ships!! Singapore is pretty at night. No wonder there aren’t any stars. Haha. It’s like super bright at night.
Lights from ships wayyy down below. Haha the pictures don’t make much sense I know.
Thanks to Mr Quek for asking me along for the trip!
This made Hong Kong the 3rd country I’ve visited (the other 2 being Malaysia and China).
Cool eh? I took this pic and came up with the idea.
L to R: Eddie, Summer, Faizal and Ai Nee – My fellow colleagues at Elves Lab
Before I start posting about what happened on the 3 days of my trip with Mr Quek, Valerine, Faizal, Eddie, Summer & Ai Nee, let me recall some stuff that I’ve learnt in general through observation when I was in Hong Kong.
1. Majority of the Hong Kongers wear black coats/jacket.
2. Ask for the price of things only after you’ve decided that you want to buy. Otherwise, don’t ask anything.
3. Speak in English whenever you can as the Chinese that we speak can be mistaken as Mainland Chinese.
4. Many in Hong Kong eat and then leave after they’ve finish their food immediately. They don’t sit on the table and linger.
5. Because of point number 4, it is pretty easy to find a place at any eateries as you can share a table with others.
6. The MTR system is kinda like a cross of Singapore’s old magnetic card system (their one trip card) and ez-link card (their Octopus card).
7. To be honest, the cost of their food and travel is expensive than in Singapore.
8. Visit any stores with the word “outlet” on it and you’ll find that the prices there are lower than what we get in the same brand of store in Hong Kong and Singapore.
9. You’ll find 7-Eleven stores everywhere.
10. “Mm Goi” is used everywhere and at any sort of situation. It means “Excuse me” and/or “Thank you”
16 Jan 09 (Day 1)
Dad fetched me to the airport rather early. I reached there at 3.30am even though the flight was due to leave only at 6.40am. Smsed Eddie and he said he was on his way. So I went to sit at one of the benches when Faizal appeared. Haha Turns out I didn’t notice him sitting at another set of benches. When Eddie arrived, the 3 of us went to the Kiliney Kopitiam stall where I had a cup of coffee and they had their breakfast. Then boss and his gf arrived and we went to look for them.
We checked in, walked around somemore, and they ate somemore. Valerine talked to me about hair stuff. lol.
Okay. We took JetStar flight 3K 691. The plane size was just like the Silkair one I took when I went to and from Chengdu. Budget airlines are just cheaper by about SGD$100 this season and because of that $100, they don’t have:
– blankets
– hot food
– drinks
– poker cards
Not that I’m complaining. I’m more like comparing 😛 I bought a drink at about the 2nd half of the journey as I was dying of thirst. Cost me $3 for a can drink. =S
Actually I took this picture to check if my eyes are bloodshot coz it felt weird
Basically, Faizal, Summer, Ai Nee and Eddie slept throughout the whole journey so i had no one to talk to =/ Read Heroes: Saving Charlie book that I borrowed from the library (Hiro became someone else so different from who he was by the end of the book seriously – but more about that in another post).
Hong Kong airport’s by the sea!! Quite interesting. I didn’t know anything much about HK before I flew there. I didn’t know how big/small it was, how many people lived there, etc. Unlike Chengdu where Ms Lam made us do researches on it before we went. Haha. And even though I’m of a Cantonese dialect, i can only say 3 sentences in Cantonese. But I do understand a bit of Cantonese.
There was a bus that Summer booked through the hotel (forgot the term called) that picked us up. Journey to the hotel was super long though. About 20mins?
We stayed in a hotel called City View hotel. Had to wait for the previous occupants to check out first so we camped and left our stuff in Eddie and Faizal’s room. Oh ya, the temperature was rather cool. Like around 18 degrees. Pretty interesting how I forgot how nice the breeze feels like even though I’ve experienced real spring in China about 1 year ago.
We went to this eatery for our lunch. It was almost 9 hours since I ate something so I didn’t really care where we ate and what. But I had this really delicious noodle with seafood and black beans and the portion was HUGE! I forgot how big food servings were already. =)
We then took the MTR from Yau Ma Tei to Lai Chee Kok where there is this whole building selling clothes at a super low price.
Some shops only cater to wholesalers though. I got a belt at HK$7 (~SGD$1.40) for my mum. And the quality isn’t those lousy sort too. In fact, it was better than the SGD$4 belt I bought in Aries the other day. Also bought 2 necklaces (my sis and I could share or she can take one).
Basically we shopped and went to Time Square for more shopping for a few more hours, then took the MTR again (can’t remember the stop name though) and took a bus to The Peak.
When we walked out of the MTR station, it was dark outside and I didn’t notice the time until I was on the bus. I expected the watch to show 8pm but it was oly 6.45pm! Look at SG now. It’s 7.30pm as I’m typing this and it’s still bright outside.
The Peak, is at the top of a mountain. Quite high, and you have to buy a ticket to take a tram that brings you all the way up. My boss bought tickets for Madame Tussaud’s and because the queue was shorter than the queue for the entrance ticket, we got in quite quickly.
The tram was an interesting experience. Because the pathway to the tram up was built in 1888, so it was I guessed built in the easiest way possible – Up. So the whole tram tilts at around 25 degrees and some parts was almost 45 degrees. It made everything outside look tilted when in fact it was us that were tilting.
I did not tilt the camera
We then went to Madame Tussauds. It was my 2nd time at Madame Tussauds. The first time it was in Singapore when they came for a few months. I think I was only 9 then? I’ll let the pictures do the talking (some pics are in either Summer or boss’s camera so I can’t put them up yet).
Me with MM Lee
We also went into this Scream thing where the staff actually told you that the staff inside will run around you but not touch you. It makes things less scarier but I screamed anyway coz it was fun. hahaha. You don’t get the chance to scream anyway you like anytime you know.
After that, we went up to the Peak’s Tower!! And man, it was cold up there but the view was fantastic!! I wished I had a good SLR or something to capture the view. You could see almost the whole of Hong Kong Island! 🙂
Went to Mong Kok, had dinner with Summer and Ainee and then we shopped till about 12mn then walked back to our hotel.
Char Siew with noodles. YUMMY
I shared a big room with Summer and Ainee and we had a sitting room with 2 rooms and a bath room. And because one of the rooms were quite far from the other, we decided not to use that room and so I took the cushions from the sofa in the sitting room to the bedroom with the double bed and slept on the floor. =)
It was cold though. So I sneezed the whole night. Summer too. Lol. 2 sick persons. =/
CS1105 – Computing and Society
This module is basically an introduction to the world of IT and ethics on it. No exam; one creative project that was supposed to be fun but was seriously quite headachy (Sorry, don’t mean to sound so negative). But it was nevertheless a great experience.
Tutorial participation was quite fun as well. Had many topics to discuss on that bordered along the grey area. My tutor was great (Ms Ng Ee Hong that I thought looked, talked, behaved like Twin Eve lol).
MA1301 – Introductory Mathematics
A Level Maths compressed for polytechnic graduates that need to learn maths. One of my biggest regrets leaving JC after first 3 months was not being able to continue with improving my maths and maths knowledge so I’d strived to do well for this module. Lecturer (Mr Ng Wee Seng) was great and I’d never once fallen asleep during lectures (his sense of humour is excellent too).
MNO1001 – Management and Organisation
Quite an interesting module. Lecturer was a psychologist actually so much of the work was learnt from a psychology point of view which seriously made me think of doing a psychology minor. But decided against it. Many theories are linked with CS2250 (see below). Video project was quite interesting as well:
Bad thing about this module for me is that, I didn’t know what the exam focus was. =/
CS2250 – Information Systems
2 Parts – part one is actually like MNO1001 but with more IT relevant topics; part two was more on the IS itself (MIS, TPS, DSS, EIS, SIS, etc).
The thing I didn’t like was the change of lecturers and tutors midway of the sem. It’s mentally annoying. Just as you got use to the tutor/lecturer they changed another one =/
CS2301 – Business and Technical Communication
I liked this module quite a lot, but it takes up a lot of time, so please make sure that your workload is manageable before taking it! Every 2 weeks there’s a presentation/CA. Other that the fact that doing so many presentations so often is quite unnerving, it’s an overall rather relaxing module. Exam’s open book.
Year 1 Sem 2 (AY 2008/2009)
Obviously, this semester I did more modules not from SoC and I paid badly for my CAP. It was a 0.2 drop overall. Will update this in a few days time.
CS2105 – Introduction to Computer Networking
I liked this module as it’s kind of like a course that adds on to what I’ve learnt in NYP.
The lecturer that we had (Anand), is a good lecturer, though he would often release projects later than he was supposed to and will definitely be late for lecturers. So just be careful about that!
BSP1004 – Legal Environment of Business
Enjoyed this module a lot! Brings out a new perspective to the things we do in life, when we buy things, etc. The law protects us, but we must learn how to protect ourselves as well. Learnt a lot about consumer law, company law and also tort of negligence. What constitudes a contract, do you know?
MKT1003 – Introduction to Marketing
My tutor’s a Japanese lady who’s very patient with the topics that she teaches. She took the time to answer all our queries and helped us in any way that she could.
Lecturer’s pretty engaging too. Attending his lectures were a joy (webcasts are boring compared to his lively lectures).
Group assignments and tutorial assignments are common too so be prepared to put in more time.
SC1101E – Introduction to Sociology
Lectures are interesting, though the way one must learn to think is pretty different and it scared me quite a bit to be honest.
Tutorials are a joy as our class will be engaged in discussions that really makes you think about life and your perspective on racism, religion, gender, etc.
RECOMMENDED MODULE
LAB1201 – Bahasa Indonesia 1
I took this mainly because I wanted to help my bf translate what his parents and relatives were talking about, but the funny thing that happened after I took this was that my bf knew how to speak and understand quite a few Indonesian words and phrases. -_-”
Nevertheless, this module was fun to take though it made my brain hurt (learning languages make my brain hurt anyway) and the most fun part was the project that we were involved in! I learnt the Kolintang for a month and made good friends with other girls in the same team. 🙂
RECOMMENDED MODULE: For learning a new language and having fun as you learn.
Year 1 Special Term (AY 2008/2009)
EC1301 – Introduction to Economics
Lecturer and tutor Dr Roland Cheo has a unique sense of humour. He teaches Econs in a very different way. Having gone through 2 other Econs classes (during PAE at SRJC and in Poly), this module is a tough one I would say. Many topics aren’t heard of before (at least for me).
Had a 40 MCQ exam (100% during Special Term) and got a C for the first time in 4 years which got me pretty upset (and pulled my CAP down). I would recommend this module during normal term. Special term’s pretty competitive.
Year 2 Sem 1 (AY 2009/2010)
Improved in CAP (0.05) overall. Guess I’m still better at CS modules after all 🙂
CS2261 – Enterprise Systems Development
To summarise, this module is mainly about EJB in Java. We get to learn the API, systems development life cycle and a little on security. Always looked forward to lessons for some reason. The project was a killer though. Took a lot of time to code but luckily I can do a bit of design and that pulled my CA grades up 😀
TR2202 – Technological Innovation
Okay. This module was taken at the very last minute because I realised that I had one module which I couldn’t bid for. Since I wanted to do this module (for the minor that I’m still trying to apply for), I decided to take it this semester. Classes fall on Saturday mornings (9am-12pm) so my lifestyle had to change a bit. We had 2 lecturers, Sarah Cheah and Eric Tachibana. Both lecturers were good at some ways and complement each other’s method of teaching.
We had presentations almost every other week. Spontaneous ones I have to say. We were given 45mins to prepare for a short presentation each time. Depending on the lecturer, you may or may not know if you will be presenting during that class. Things were exciting, but I must admit sometimes it can get terribly tiring.
However, the content for this module really opened my mind to the things one must take note of when working with both business and technology. I haven’t seen any other module with such in-depth content as this when it comes to both business and technology. So this compensated for the lack of sleep and hard work put in 😛
Be prepared for a killer exam paper though. About 50% of us couldn’t finish the paper on time.
LAB2201 – Bahasa Indonesia 2
Cohort was very small this semester – only 30 of us. Made lots of good friends again and learnt a whole load more Bahasa. BI1 was too basic. This made me use more bahasa and understand it better.
CS4260 – E-Commerce Business Models
Lectures were scary at first (no tutorials) but afterwards it got pretty alright once we realised that Professor Jack Jiang is a really nice person who jokes despite his stern and serious looks.
Content is interesting. This module provides us with the building blocks of the common E-commerce business models with the intention of allowing us to come up with newer models based on those models.
CS4266 – IT and CRM
To be honest, I wasn’t very interested in this module. 😡 After this module, I learnt that I shouldn’t take a module just because I wanted to work with my friends. It just doesn’t work this way. I didn’t like the lectures as it wasn’t my cup of tea, but thankfully the final exam was an open book exam. Had 1 overall presentation but weekly case studies to do (in groups). Also had a group term project to work on.
Year 2 Sem 2 (AY 2009/2010)
CS3240 – Human-Computer Interaction
This was taught by Dr Jack Jiang as well. I got this module rather late and the admin had to bankrupt my CORS bidding points just to put me in. See this and thison how things are handled around here.
The main thing that I wanted to learn was Adobe Flash and I FINALLY got the chance to do so after so many years. The tutor was really nice and patient in teaching us flash and Dr Jiang was still up to his teaching standards so all was okay.
CS3254 – Information Security Management
I really enjoyed this module a lot. Ms Ng Boon Yuan’s a really engaging lecturer and I also got to know a really good tutor Zhenbin (who still communicates with most of us through FB). Lessons were peppered with videos and stories. After I took CS3235 (the next sem), I felt that this was a much easier module than that. Tutorials were of much fun too. We were allowed to put up skits, do videos, etc for our projects.
CS4264 – E-Commerce: B2C Applications
Had to take this as it was a core module. The lecturer was new, and hence he didn’t know what his “debate” project was all about :S I believe that this module has changed it’s module code, name and format. I didn’t enjoy going for 9am classes every week though.
MKT3402B – Consumer Behaviour
I thought this was going to be psychology based, but it turned out to be theory and only a bit of psychology. However, the tutor was pretty good and nice and she’s really approachable in giving us feedback on how we could improved with regards to the module.
MNO3301 – Organisational Behaviour
I enjoyed Prof Vivian Lim’s class quite a bit, except for the part where we had to participate a lot. I got out of my shell only for that class to talk though. Pretty weird and still scary, but nevertheless a good experience. Topics are rather Psychology based and the workload’s pretty heavy with lots of readings.
Year 2 Special Term II(AY 2009/2010)
CS3235 – Introduction to Computer Security
This was a really tough module! But the fact is, it was taught by a really good lecturer, Prof Hugh Anderson. With his experience, he was really patient and would even stay back with us to explain tutorial questions until we understood. My classmates didn’t have maths when they took this module during normal semesters, but I felt that the maths here was a necessary evil. Without all these calculations, how could you understand what goes on behind all the security algorithms and hashings? I learnt to appreciate the beauty of primes from this and it’s awesome how when you past by Prof Anderson (or Hugh, as he likes us to call him), he still recognises you and asks “How are you?”
2010/2011 – Semester 1
GEK1502 Food: Security and Safety
IS4102 E-Business Capstone Project
IS4234 Control and Audit of Information Systems
MNO2311 Leadership In Organisations
Edmund gave me this link to this super cool map of Chengdu. It’s even in 3D! One thing that we didn’t really have when we were there last year was a proper detailed map. Google Maps were rather useless. I wished we had this back then. It would be quite fun to be able to explore new places and familiarise ourselves with Chengdu.
Anyway, I think the map is a bit wrong (do correct me if I’m wrong here) coz we live at the highest floor (6th + attic) but in the map it seems as though the apartments we stay at were very high apartments.
Unfortunately, they haven’t updated it with Tianfu Software Park. I can point out the different buildings there! 😀
To be honest though, there are quite a lot of routes and places that I’d forgotten when I was looking at the map. =( One day got to go back and visit.
Hope the places will all be the same and that everyone there’s safe from the recent earthquakes.
Just returned from my own graduation ceremony! I am officially a diploma holder!! 😀
Basically, we wear gowns, hear some speeches and collect our diplomas on stage. Quite cool to see almost everyone again!! 😀
Great speech by Eugene! 🙂 And congrats to Karthika for being the top student! 🙂
Oh and Mr The pronounced my surname wrongly. 🙁 Not the first time someone has done that.
I wanted to take more pictures, but unfortunately didn’t get the chance to. A few friends forgot about me and went off for dinner lor. Haiz. 🙁 [You know who you are if you are reading this 😛 ]
Why are there so many sad smileys?
Anyway, pictures!! Will upload and post more as I receive them.
They gave us this before we went up the stage and we had to pass this to the announcer (in my case, Mr The) to read our names.
Huzz and I. 🙂
Scott, Hwa Swee and Eugene (who gave the speech as a president of the SIT Club).
Doesn’t Hwa Swee look nerdy?
These 3 guys are my classmates and I have a lot of memories with them for my past 3 years in NYP. One of them made me cry during a presentation and another was the one who consoled me when I did. And Eugene’s the one who I talked a lot about music about!
Li Ying and me.
Lol. I miss the laughs and the jokes with her in Chengdu.
Jasmine Teh and I.
To be honest, I’m not that close with her, but I know that she’s one of the very pro people in IT. Only got to know her name and all through OPP (she was posted to Oracle Beijing last year). I remember how I would feel inferior with her around. Actually I still do, but it’s not that bad now. 🙂
Wei Liang and I.
He and Jasmine walked to me and said he wanted to take a picture with me. And believe it or not, the camera he was carrying was pink and he said it was actually his sister’s.
I got to know him during the NYP Open House in 2006. And for some weird reason, a lot of lecturers thought we’re super good friends or something (we’re not) coz they would pass messages to me through him. Haha.
Me, Boss (Mr Quek) and Olive. My boss is tallllll. He’s an NYP graduate as well.
If I remember correctly, we used to cross this road on our long walk home from work everyday in Chengdu.
I was shocked to hear this piece of news from Huzz. Coz as far as I know, Chengdu doesn’t lie on any plationic plates (I learnt of this info when I was doing research on Chengdu last year before I went there).
Asked my OIC if everyone was ok (they were).
Kinda scared me. If it’d happened 365 days ago, I would be one of the few Singaporeans there.
And when you’d stayed in a place for 125 days of your life, you’ll definitely feel for such diasasters.
Just finished The Buddha, Geoff and Me and I feel this immense sense of happiness and relief that I’ve finished the book and the concepts and philosophies that I have encountered before but never really thought much about it.
It’s like waking up in a way, to a new day and strengthening my faith again. =) It’s a really good book I’d say. I’m more prepared to face obstacles and challenges now. Coz though this book, I’ve realised that I’m actually quite a scaredy-cat that do not react well to things that I am unsure of.
When I’m unsure of other people’s reaction to my choice, I’ll choose not to make a choice and let them decide. (that’s why I’m indecisive)
When I’m unsure of what other people think of me, I’ll choose not to speak.
When I’m unsure of how the situation or place will be like, I’ll choose not to go.
But then now I realised that it’s all because of my freaking imagination that’s controlling me. I must say that since strengthening my faith back in 2004 and doing proper prayer and all, I’ve removed quite a lot of these scary imagination that had got hold of me but left with the above 3 fears. I’m determined to remove these nonsense and improve myself. Of course, it doesn’t mean that I am going to be selfish and not care about what others think, but I shall use wisdom, courage and compassion to make better decisions so that it will be a win-win situation for me and everyone else.
And I shall end today’s entry with this quote from the book that I really really like:
“We want to know how other people’s story turns out because we want to know how our story will turn out.”
